Of Wood and Clay

Father, although I am wood and clay and not worthy to be noticed, I will serve You such as I am. I will serve You in whatever capacity I can. I will serve You with whatever strength and ability that I have. I am weak and unwise, but I am Yours. Help me to go beyond myself. Help me not to look at myself but to look at You. Help me to serve and to work and to walk as You see fit. Let me be a clean and noble and useful vessel. Let me be Your good and faithful servant. Let nothing dissuade or deter me. Let me not be fearful or burdened or weighted down or distracted and slowed by multiplied cares and the world’s concerns. Please take away the confusion and blindness and crippling thorns and constant noise of discouragement. I am Yours to be bold in Christ and to be led by the Spirit and to be filled with the Word. Help me to not let You down. Help me not to grow weary. Help me to stand up and to press on. Help me to fight the good fight and to run the race and to keep the faith. My heart holds on to You. If I can do nothing else, my heart holds on to You! Father, please help me! Please help this simple vessel to hold Your power and love and strength. Hold me and help me! I trust You. I trust You. Help me to trust You and serve You. Hold me and use me for Your purpose. Please, may I not fail You! Please, may I be a small stroke in Your masterpiece! In Jesus’ name, amen.

In a great house there are vessels not only of gold and silver, but also of wood and clay; some are for noble purposes and some for ignoble. If a man cleanses himself from the latter, he will be an instrument for noble purposes, made holy, useful to the Master and prepared to do any good work. --- 2 Timothy 2:20-21

For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do. --- Ephesians 2:10

His master said to him, “Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful over a few things; I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your master.”
--- Matthew 25:21
