Though Grace Is Shown

Why do the heathen rage against the Lord? Why do they choose and embrace devastation and disintegration and debauchery? Why do the hordes and masses act like animals instead of people? Why do they defy and deny God and make war against the Savior? Why do they strike out against the people of God and hate them? How can they oppose the power of God and fight against His authority? How can they prefer slavery to sin instead of freedom in righteousness? Why have darkness and arrogance and hatred become their refuge? Why are violence and fury their only answer? Why do they drown in such insanity and senselessness? Why do they call evil good and good evil? Why do they reject the sovereignty and compassion of our Lord and Savior and God? Why do they reject love? Why do they reject healing? Why do they reject forgiveness and mercy and grace? Why do they blindly and ravenously and riotously run toward the sin and evil of Sodom and Gomorrah and toward the wrath that burned them down, when the salvation of Jesus Christ is staring them in the face? God gives them every chance in the world, and God has forgiven us. We are evidence of grace. We are evidence of love. We are evidence of hope and peace and His good will toward men. And He lets our light shine. But sometimes the blind choose to be blind and fall into the pit. And their chance and their time come to an end. May eyes and hearts be opened!
He will bring down your fortified walls and lay them low; He will bring them down to the ground, to the very dust. --- Isaiah 25:12
He humbles those who dwell on high; He lays the lofty city low; He levels it to the ground and casts it down to the dust. --- Isaiah 26:5
Though grace is shown to the wicked, they do not learn righteousness; even in a land of uprightness, they go on doing evil and regard not the majesty of the LORD. O LORD, Your hand is lifted high, but they do not see it. Let them see Your zeal for Your people and be put to shame; let the fire reserved for Your enemies consume them. --- Isaiah 26:10-11
