Good Tidings of Great Joy

Father, we have seen the light! Our eyes have seen Your salvation. And we rejoice in Jesus Christ! The good and bad stand before us, and the bad vies for attention. Yet, we have seen the ravages of sin and the senselessness of wickedness and the horror and hatred of evil. But let that not be our view; let that not be our hearts; let that not be our taste or territory. We have seen the face of Jesus Christ! We see and believe and know the truth. We have experienced Your forgiveness and mercy and grace. And the world is not our desire; and the things are not our treasure. You have set eternity in our hearts; You have released our wings to soar! You have saved us and justified us and sanctified us. And we know that we are Yours. We know that we have been set free. We know that we are in Your presence forever. We abide and reside in Christ. Your Spirit tells our spirits, and Your Word builds up the fortress around us. Your heralds have brought the Good News, and we have witnessed the dawn. We have awakened to the love and light and peace. We see what Your faithfulness and compassion have always meant. The celebration in our hearts has started, with no end. Beyond the birth, beyond the cross, beyond the grave, beyond sin, we live! We live in Jesus Christ! It is good tidings of great joy! It is everything! You so love us! And we give thanks! In Jesus’ name, amen.

How beautiful on the mountains are the feet of those who bring good news, who proclaim peace, who bring good tidings, who proclaim salvation, who say to Zion, “Your God reigns!” Listen, your watchmen lift up their voices; together they shout for joy. When the LORD returns to Zion, they will see it with their own eyes. Burst into songs of joy together, you ruins of Jerusalem, for the LORD has comforted His people; He has redeemed Jerusalem. The LORD will lay bare His holy arm in the sight of all the nations, and all the ends of the earth will see the salvation of our God.  --- Isaiah 52:7-10

And the angel said unto them, “Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.”  --- Luke 2:10
