His Indescribable Gift

The bar is high; the bar is very high! What can we give to the King? What can we do of any merit or worth? What in our hands does not distract from the message? How do we manage to keep from tarnishing the Good News? What is worthy of the gift of grace through Jesus Christ? For God so loved us beyond measure, beyond observation, beyond experience, beyond imagining --- from everlasting to everlasting! Unconditional and sacrificial and eternal --- compassion that never fails and never ends! Great is His faithfulness; great is His love! Jesus Christ has given us the right to become children of God. And His Spirit testifies to our spirits. We know; the truth sets us free. And in His hands, we are justified and sanctified. We ourselves are His holy temple, the place where He dwells. And so, each day is our response; each day is our chance and challenge; each day is our voice and testimony. We live and breathe for Christ. We walk and run for Christ. We build and grow for Christ. We touch and speak for Christ. Nothing is too great or too small. Nothing is too far or too near. Nothing is too hard or too easy. We step out and step forward and step upward because we have gone from death to life, from sin to righteousness, from guilt to grace. We step out for Christ --- because we can and must and yearn to! Such as we are, we speak His name and walk His walk and love with His love. The message shines through! The message shines through!

This service that you perform is not only supplying the needs of God’s people, but is also overflowing in many expressions of thanks to God. Because of the service by which you have proved yourselves, men will praise God for the obedience that accompanies your confession of the Gospel of Christ, and for your generosity in sharing with them and with everyone else. And in their prayers for you, their hearts will go out to you, because of the surpassing grace God has given you. Thanks be to God for His indescribable gift!
