Breaks Open the Way

What we could not do ourselves, God Himself does. We all like sheep had gone astray; each had gone his own way; each one did what was desired in his own eyes. And the flesh contends with the spirit. And sin tries to make us prisoners. But God loves His own people. God has enough love to encapsulate all the world. And Christ took upon Himself the iniquity of us all. And the cross became our freedom; and the resurrection became our newness of life, our eternity of righteousness. And the Spirit became our guarantee and sign and seal of belonging. We share in Christ’s righteousness and light and life. By His wounds, we are healed and made whole. And by His life and power and command, we are brought into His Kingdom. Sin is not our master or our burden or our judge. The Lord Jesus Christ is our Master and King and Good Shepherd and Savior. He broke all that trapped and chained us. He set the prisoners free and lifted our hearts from the depths. He took us to the green pastures beside the still waters. He threw off the shackles and opened the way. He goes before us and fights for us and is our rear guard. And He leads us now and every day in the righteous path, the straight and narrow way. We are not abandoned or forgotten or on our own. He never leaves us nor forsakes us. He comes after us and finds us. He rescues us and holds us and keeps us. We are found. We are wanted. We are saved. We are loved. We are loved.

I will surely gather all of you, O Jacob; I will surely bring together the remnant of Israel. I will bring them together like sheep in a pen, like a flock in its pasture; the place will throng with people. One who breaks open the way will go up before them; they will break through the gate and go out. Their king will pass through before them, the LORD at their head.   --- Micah 2:12-13
