The 40 Day TBC Life Devotion

Day 9

“Outdo one another in showing honor” (Romans 12:10, ESV).

Looking at more than one translation often gives fuller meaning:

• “Take delight in honoring each other” (New Living Translation).
• “Give preference to one another in honor” (NASV).
• “In honor giving preference to one another” (NKJV).
• “Honor one another above yourselves” (NIV).
• “Practice playing second fiddle” (The Message).

I would translate it from the Greek this way: “Lead the way in valuing each other.”

What is a person worth?

• They are worth God’s creative zeal, made in the image of God.
• They are worth Jesus’ passionate death on the cross.
• They are worth being gifted in unique ways through God’s grace.
• They are worth being called the child of God and the Bride of Christ.
• They are worth the yet unreleased potential that lies within.
• They are worth having been made immortal—created to exist with God forever.

“Honor is where you recognize who a person is without stumbling over who they are not” –Bill Johnson

How can you outdo each other in showing honor? What attitude should you have when we come together at TBC?
